GENERAL INFORMATION Performs the primary responsibility for planning and implementing instructional work with identified students ages 3-5 to develop learning readiness, pre-reading, reading and/or mathematics skills through a planned early learning program. This position is responsible for providing instructional and/or behavioral support to special education students in high needs programs. The ability to organize and maintain a behavior improvement program and provides one-on-one services that are responsive to the diversity of the population we serve.
DUTIES

Primary Purpose:

 

Performs the primary responsibility for planning and implementing instructional work with identified students ages 3-5 to develop learning readiness, pre-reading, reading and/or mathematics skills through a planned early learning program. This position is responsible for providing instructional and/or behavioral support to special education students in high needs programs.  The ability to organize and maintain a behavior improvement program and provides one-on-one services that are responsive to the diversity of the population we serve.

 

Qualifications: 

 

Education/Certification                                              

Bachelor’s Degree with special education early childhood focus

AR teaching licence

Must complete required state credentialing requirements (Background check, Fingerprinting)

Ability to complete records accurately and timely.

 

Special Knowledge/Skills                                  *Dedicated hard worker with ability to report to work on a daily basis        * Have the ability to establish effective working relationships with staff and students. *Ability to maintain effective classroom management strategies.            *Ability to cooperatively work with others.                 *Self-motivated

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Part 1 - Major Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Instructs individuals or small groups of students.

  2. Conduct EC special education screenings

  3. Implement procedures related to due process.

  4. Develop, implement, and monitor the progress of IEP for children eligible to receive EC Special education services utilizing due process procedures.

  5. Participate in referral, evaluation/programming, separate programming, annual review and transition conferences as requested.

  6. Plans  instructional strategies and/or behavior modification programs.

  7. Constructs, selects and maintains instructional materials and/or behavior reward activities; formulates lesson plans.

  8. Maintains records pertinent to student performance and growth and completes student progress reports.

  9. Participates in staff development activities.  

  10. Notify immediately appropriate personnel of any evidence of substance abuse, child abuse, child neglect, severe medical conditions, potential suicide, or individuals appearing to be under the influence of alcohol, or controlled substances.  

  11. Display ethical and professional behavior in working with students, parents, school personnel, and outside agencies associated with the school.  

  12. Protect confidentiality of records and information gained as part of exercising professional duties and use discretion in sharing such information within legal confines

  13. Support children in their social/emotional, physical , and cognitive and creative growth

  14. NEVER leave a child unsupervised

  15. Performs related work, as required.

  12. Carry out other duties as assigned by all supervisors.

Working Conditions:

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors            Maintain emotional control under stress  

Constant walking, standing, stooping, lifting, up to approximately 50 to 100 pounds and occasional lifting of equipment and/or materials weighing up to 40 pounds may be required. Other physical activities may be required.           

 

Terms of Employment: 190  day contract; salary based on SWAEC salary schedule
