Apache won't load and/or Groupwise Web Access fails? Try this!

I ran into an issue at one district where Apache2 would not stay loaded.  After messing with .conf files, rebooting, you name it, the solution came from an unexpected place: server certificates!

For whatever reason, the certificates get corrupted or expire or whatever makes them stop working correctly.  To fix that, do this:

  1. Run AP2WEBDN and TC4STOP at the console to make sure everything is unloaded.
  2. Run PKIDIAG, then choose options 4, 5, 6, then 0.
  3. Run TCKEYGEN (this makes sure Tomcat grabs the newly-made certificate)
  4. Run AP2WEBUP and then TOMCAT4
  5. Check your web services and Groupwise Web Access from a workstation.

And there you have it!  Easy Peasy, but not so easy to find the solution online - until now!
