Gifted and Talented Education

The Gifted and Talented Education Office offers staff development in curriculum development and modification, critical and creative thinking, learning/personality styles, performance assessment, brain-compatible classrooms, curriculum alignment, curriculum development and differentiation and social and emotional needs of the gifted.  This office works closely with the ADE in providing to member districts staff development and assistance with the writing of content frameworks.  Conferences and visits are scheduled to assist member districts in preparing for program monitoring, completing compliance action plans, disseminating information from the ADE office of Gifted and Talented/Advanced Placement, staff development planning, curriculum writing, course work in gifted/talented, identification, and program and student evaluation. GT Specialist demonstrates teaching methods via model teaching in GT classrooms.  Four to five gifted and talented advisory council meetings are held each year.

The GT Specialist  assists in ADE Office of Gifted/Talented with the selection of Governor's School participants, the Duke University TIP reception and the Secondary Content Workshop.  She serves on the AGATE (Arkansas for Gifted and Talented Education) Board and is a member AAGEA.
