SPELL Project Overview

SWAEC received grants monies to work on developing technology resources to help English Learners and special education students better access to Common Core. We have a core team including technology integration people and classroom teachers. We also have support at the next two levels of the project. Our 2nd tier of support consist of 3 sections - teachers that have technology skills, but don't have to be technology experts; teachers whose primary responsibility is teaching special ed or EL students; and classroom teachers who have special education and EL students in their classroom for some portion of the day. The participants in these groups do need an understanding of Common Core so that as resources are submitted they can make sure they are at the rigor of CCSS and put them in a technology format to submit to the tech team for completion. We also have teachers at our 3rd tier to actually find and submit resources.
