State TESS/LEADS Specialist


Salary:   $85,000 


Description of Duties:

This position is responsible for support and development of effective educators and administrators in Arkansas. The specialist will work to ensure alignment of leader professional learning across the state. The Specialist coordinates/leads the Teacher Excellence and Support System (TESS) and Leader Excellence and Development System (LEADS) rubric development, training, virtual content development, as well as corresponding platforms and professional learning.  

The specialist will also coordinate and lead DESE initiatives that support the Career Continuum. Coordination with educational partners at the district, state, and national levels in support of the teacher and administrator career continuum. 

This position will be housed as a non-state employee at the Arkansas Department of Education’s Division of Elementary and Secondary Education in Little Rock.  Some travel and/or virtual professional development state-wide required. Benefits, personnel policies and work schedule will follow the Southwest Arkansas Education Cooperative guidelines.  Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned. 



Required: A minimum of a Master’s Degree; must possess a current Arkansas administrator license or be eligible for the same; have served as an educator and administrator; minimum of three years as a building level administrator or equivalent experience 

Preferred: Knowledge of rubric development and implementation; excellent computer skills; experience with the teacher career continuum; professionally innovative; proficient with collecting data and analyzing data for program improvement; excellent communication skills; available for some travel and evening work; exemplary organizational skills; ability to work as a team member and actively participate in office projects; quality presentation skills; working experience with TESS, LEADS and the state reporting systems.
